INTRODUCING ACCESS ABILITY
Our main goal has always been to find an idea that can improve the world, even if that means making someone’s life a little bit easier, or making a complicated process a bit more convenient. Welcome to Access Ability our groundbreaking startup that will be changing lives, one user at a time.
As a current Occupational Therapy student, I have a different lens when it comes to looking at the world. Currently, I am building a website/app that will enhance the accessibility of communities around the country. As a student, I started to notice how many individuals I met were impacted by businesses and facilities that were not ADA compliant or who only met the minimum requirements (which does not suit many individuals needs). This struck a chord with me when I began to hear the accounts from several individuals about how their voices are going unheard and how going through the courts to make places more accessible was time consuming and expensive. I began to think about what business owners were really afraid of these days- BAD REVIEWS. Nothing impacts businesses today more than bad customer reviews and nothing motivates businesses to make a change more than public reviews being posted. The goal of this website would be to provide a platform for people with physical disabilities to review venues, airlines, restaurants, businesses and more based on their accessibility and the experience they've had. The goal is to help individuals in the community participate and make informed decisions on accessibility based on the reviews before they go. This isn't intended for just the physically disabled but for anyone in the community who notices limited accessibility for them self or others.
GREEN LIGHT, YELLOW LIGHT, RED LIGHT
We have designed a rating system based on traffic lights. Green means go, yellow means proceed with caution, and red light means not accessible according to reviews posted.
When leaving a review, there will be boxes that allow you to rate everything from the entrance to the noise level and climate. This allows us to reach a broader audience as we hope to be as inclusive as possible moving forward.
We plan on using an integrated map that allows you to search by city or local surrounding area based on your location. There will also be categories listed to help simplify your search based on what you are looking for. Our goal is to make our website simplistic and easy to use for anyone.
